Job summary

The University of Michigan is seeking a Patient Services Intermediate to support pediatric specialties and the GI division in ambulatory clinics, including off-site locations. You will coordinate communications among physicians, nurses, staff, and patients to ensure smooth clinic operations.

A High School diploma and 3–4 years in a large healthcare system are required. Proficiency with MiChart, Epic, and standard office software, plus strong interpersonal skills, are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinic operational support to the Pediatric Specialties ACU and the GI Division, including off-site locations.
  • Coordinate communication between physicians, nurse providers, clinic personnel, and patients.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving clinic operational problems and train new staff.
  • Maintain excellent rapport with patients, faculty, and staff in a team setting.
  • Participate in Lean in Daily Work (LIDW) for continuous quality improvement.
  • Fax Server Management; distribute faxes to nursing providers and verify information in MiChart.
  • Correspond with Providers to obtain additional documentation and medical records.
  • SignNow Management.
  • Inbasket Management: triage messages and forward for follow-up.
  • Process Lab Results, Radiology Images and Biopsy Slides.
  • Obtain Medical Records; process FMLA and other forms.
  • Provide backup coverage for other PSI roles as needed.

Coordinate and facilitate communication between physicians, nurse providers, clinic personnel, and patients regarding issues relevant to medical care. Assist in identifying and resolving clinic operational problems and help train new staff members on the clinical support operations. Individuals must maintain excellent rapport in person or via the telephone with patients, faculty, and staff, within a team setting.
