Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Experience: Three years of experience in a medical office setting, required. Other related experience may be considered in lieu of medical office experience.
  • Additional Skills (required): Knowledge of medical office software for updating patient demographic information, posting charges, copays, and scheduling patient appointments. Understanding of CPT and ICD-9-CM coding processes. Excellent verbal communication skills. Ability to work with changing priorities. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Ability to interact with individuals of all cultures and levels of authority. Confidentiality is essential. Must function well as part of a team and demonstrate initiative. Basic medical terminology knowledge, obtainable through formal classes or work experience. High proficiency with EPIC systems. Detailed knowledge of billing requirements for multiple payors. Familiarity with coding requirements for the practice's specialty.
  • Additional Skills (preferred): Proficiency in all computer software used in the practice.
