Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a clerical professional to support physicians and clinics. You will perform specialized, policy-driven tasks and may supervise other clerical staff to maintain smooth clinic operations.

The ideal candidate has strong customer service and communication skills, basic medical terminology, and proficiency with office software. A high school diploma and relevant experience are required; CPC certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years office/clerical experience in customer service, call center, physician office or other clinical environment required.
• Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills; excellent customer service and communication skills required.
• Must attend all required coursework assigned by management;
• Possess basic knowledge of medical terminology and advanced knowledge of PC applications, software, and database management;
• Be able to perform math & bookkeeping skills;
• Possess exceptional telephone & customer service skills; and be knowledgeable of English grammar & punctuation.
• Business Office Education or similar coursework preferred.
• Currently certified as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) preferred.
