At Tennessee Cancer Specialists, our employees have the privilege of supporting patients and their families on their cancer journey. Whether working directly with patients or in a support role, you are essential to our mission of delivering high-quality, compassionate care. Our team of over 200 employees across 15 East Tennessee locations has been recognized as a Top Workplace for two consecutive years in the Knoxville area!

Responsibilities

Here's what might happen on a typical day...

You will be the friendly first point of contact for patients at our clinic, providing a positive and welcoming experience. Your upbeat attitude will help set the tone for their visit.

While some tasks are routine, managing a high volume of patients requires excellent organization and preparation to navigate a busy schedule efficiently.

Experiences that matter...
  • You will greet patients professionally, building rapport and completing check-in efficiently, enabling timely notifications to clinical staff of patient arrivals.
  • You will provide excellent customer service through effective communication, asking appropriate questions to assess patient needs and sharing necessary information.
  • You will handle payments, including collecting copays and balances, and provide receipts.
  • During check-out, you will coordinate appointment scheduling that is convenient for patients and aligns with physician and office guidelines.
  • Your knowledge of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and other medical office technology will enable you to navigate, document patient information accurately, and communicate effectively with staff.
  • Maintaining a tidy lobby and desk area is essential, reflecting your organizational skills.
  • Your proactive work ethic will prepare you to assist with additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications

For your safety, keep this in mind:

  • The role involves sitting for extended periods, with occasional bending, stooping, and stretching for supplies.
  • Lifting should be limited to 40 pounds or less.
  • You need good manual dexterity to operate office equipment, and your vision and hearing should be sufficient for prolonged computer use and communication.

We feel this position requires these basics:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate's degree in a related field is a plus.
  • You must be proficient with computer systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ideally, you have at least one year of experience in a similar medical clinic role to ensure you're well-prepared for this position.
