Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health's Jersey City Medical Center is seeking a Patient Services Representative to support front-desk operations, greet patients, manage sign-in, and coordinate appointments. The homebase will be at Colony Plaza Oncology and staff may be floated to other ambulatory sites as needed.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, with preference for one year of clerical or receptionist experience and strong communication abilities.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred: one-year clerical or receptionist experience.
• Thorough knowledge of modern office methods and ability to perform confidential clerical tasks.
• Demonstrates ability to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
• Experience working with urban populations of multiple ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner and manages patient flow.
• Directs/assists patients to appropriate department.
• Answers a high volume of calls and transfers as needed.
• Schedules and coordinates patient appointments and follow-ups.
• Verifies insurance prior to appointments.
• Registers patients and inputs required information accurately.
• Maintains HIPAA-compliant records and files.
• Input billing charges and enter data into the scheduling system.
