Job summary

Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, in Aurora, CO, is seeking an experienced Patient Service Coordinator to schedule patients, manage referrals, and handle front-office duties with professionalism and empathy.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of office experience; medical office preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency with computer systems is required.
  • Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule new patients and return appointments in the computer system.
  • Enter referrals, authorizations, and correspondence.
  • Schedule outpatient appointments, testing, and hospital admissions.
  • Obtain pre-certifications and handle new patient referrals.
  • Collect co-pays and other balances at the time of visit.
  • Answer incoming calls and schedule/reschedule appointments.
  • Provide patients with appointment cards and document no-shows.
  • Arrange financial counseling as needed.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and follow front-office policies.
  • Cover other front-office tasks as needed.

Overview

Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, Colorado's largest and most comprehensive provider of cancer care has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Patient Service Coordinator in Aurora.

No matter the role each RMCC team member serves in, the goal is the same: to provide the best care possible for each and every one of our patients. Whether we are a nurse holding our patient’s hand, or a scheduler on the phone finding an appointment that fits into a patient’s schedule, we are deeply connected to our patients and do what we can to help.

Salary Range: $18.29-$25.00

Responsibilities
  • Schedules new patients and return appointments in computer system in accordance with physician and/or office guidelines. Cancels/reschedules appointments according to physician schedule changes; notifies appropriate clinic personnel.
  • Obtains and enters all authorization and correspondence relating to referrals in patients charts and computer.
  • Schedules outpatient appointments/testing and hospital admissions upon request.
  • Obtains necessary pre-certification as required. Handles new patient referrals, gathers necessary information, assigns the patient account number and schedules appointment.
  • Collects co-pays, deductible and other out of pocket amounts at time of visit. Maintains primary office scheduling book containing all physician meetings, satellite schedule, rounding and call coverage.
  • Handles incoming phone calls from patients needing to schedule or reschedule appointments.
  • Provides patients with accurate and legible appointment cards. Documents no shows in patient’s chart for missed visits. Follows up with patient to reschedule any missed appointments. Arranges for patients to have financial counseling as needed.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/corporation.
  • Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the front office.
  • Covers for other front office functions as requested
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Position requires at least 3 year office experience, medical office preferred.
  • Have excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Proficiency with computer systems a requirement.
  • Microsoft (Outlook, Word, and Excel) a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work may require sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies. Employee is required to be present at the employee site during regularly scheduled business hours and regularly required to sit or stand and talk or hear. Requires manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination for computer work. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range for telephone contacts.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment. Work will involve in-person interaction with co-workers and management and/or clients. Work may require minimal travel by automobile to office sites.

All qualified candidates are required to pass a background check and non-federal drug test (which excludes marijuana) post offer of employment and prior to hire.
