Patient Services Associate
Join Michigan Medicine as a Patient Services Associate. You will check in patients, schedule appointments, verify information, process charges, and support clinical staff.
Base Pay Range
$43,056.00/yr – $62,462.00/yr
Responsibilities
- Accurately schedule patient appointments using Cadence and manage pre‑arrival functions to ensure clinic visits are prepared.
- Serve as a resource for physicians, staff, and patients for insurance authorizations and managed‑care issues.
- Assist patients with payment questions, collect copays and past‑due balances at check‑out.
- Reconcile clinic cash collections and credit card transactions daily following clinic standards.
- Ensure completeness of visit information, including diagnosis and procedure codes for billing.
- Support nursing and medical assistant staff to create efficient patient flow.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience in a large, complex health‑care setting preferred.
- Familiarity with UMHS electronic medical record systems preferred.
- 2–3 years of experience.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and team‑work skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
- Experience with UMHS EMR and related software.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Active listening and information‑technology proficiency.
Physical Requirements
Sitting, standing, walking, lifting less than 51 lbs.
