Patient Service Technician I/II-Laboratory Services

Join us as a Patient Service Technician I/II in Laboratory Services at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic.

Job Overview

The Patient Service Technician (PST) I and II will:

• Perform pediatric and adult venipunctures, finger sticks, heel sticks, and other collection services as ordered by the provider.
• Perform CLIA waived testing (e.g., urine dip, pregnancy tests, blood glucose, fecal occult blood, rapid influenza, PT/INR, Monospots, sed rates, rapid strep) with minimal/no supervision, following laboratory procedures.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and prepare for inspections/audits by supervisors, directors, and CLIA surveyors.
• Conduct quality controls, participate in proficiency testing, maintain lab instruments per manufacturer guidelines, and follow all safety protocols.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred for PST II.

Experience

• No experience required for PST I if completing an accredited Phlebotomy Program; or 1 year of related experience.
• For PST II, 2 years of experience or 3 years with waived testing experience.

Licenses and Certifications

• Must obtain BLS certification through the American Heart Association within 30 days of hire.
• Preferred: Certified Phlebotomist or Medical Assistant, membership in a national phlebotomy organization.

Skills and Abilities

• Complete KSC review/skill validation within 90 days of hire.
• Proficient with lab equipment, computers, and Windows-based software.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Preferred: Microsoft Office, electronic medical records, EPIC experience.

Additional Requirements

• English proficiency required; bilingual/multilingual preferred.
• Ability to work independently or in a team, with flexibility for overtime.
