Job Overview
The Patient Service Technician (PST) I and II will:
- Perform pediatric and adult venipunctures, finger sticks, heel sticks, and other collection services as ordered by the provider.
- Perform CLIA waived testing (e.g., urine dip, pregnancy tests, blood glucose, fecal occult blood, rapid influenza, PT/INR, Monospots, sed rates, rapid streps) as described in the laboratory manual with minimal/no supervision.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records for inspections and audits.
- Perform quality controls, participate in proficiency testing, maintain lab instruments, and follow all safety guidelines.

Qualifications
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Preferred: Associate or Bachelor's Degree in a related field (for PST II)
Experience
- Required: No experience if completed an accredited Phlebotomy Program; or 1 year of related experience as a phlebotomist.
- For PST II: 2 years of experience plus waived testing experience if applicable.
Licenses
- Must obtain BLS certification within 30 days of employment.
- Preferred: Certified Phlebotomist or Medical Assistant; member of an accredited phlebotomy organization.
Skills
- Complete KSC review/skill validation within 90 days.
- Proficient with related equipment, computers, and Windows software.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Preferred: Microsoft Office, electronic medical records, EPIC experience.
Other Requirements
- English proficiency; bilingual/multilingual preferred.
- Ability to work independently or in a team; flexibility for overtime.
