Esse Health is seeking a part-time Patient Service Representative for our Tesson Ferry Pediatrics office in St. Louis. The role supports patient check-in/out, appointment scheduling, and insurance verification in an outpatient setting.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, 1+ year of public-facing experience, knowledge of medical terminology and insurance plans, and solid PC skills. No nights or holidays; Saturdays occasionally; benefits eligibility varies.

Qualifications

• Formal training typically indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years of experience working with the public, preferably in healthcare.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of health insurance plans (HMO, PPO, etc.).
• Proficient PC/Windows skills.
• Familiarity with medical coding.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient check-in and check-out.
• Schedule patient appointments.
• Collect co-payments and verify insurance.
• Register patients and update demographics.
• Answer the telephone and balance monies at day end.
• May enter physician-related charges into the computer.
• May bill hospital or nursing home charges.

We are searching for a part-time Patient Service Representative for our Tesson Ferry Pediatrics office located at 13303 Tesson Ferry!

Opportunity

• Part-time opening
• This position is scheduled for three (3) days per week, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Specific workdays will vary from week to week based on business needs, so flexibility is required.
  • One Saturday morning from 7:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. will be required approximately 1 - 2 times a month.
• No nights or holidays
• Outpatient clinical practice

Day-to-Day

• Perform patient check-in/out
• Schedule patient appointments
• Collect co-payments
• Verify insurance
• Register patients/update patient demographics
• Answer the telephone
• Balance monies at day end

Who We Are Seeking (preferred)

• The Patient Service Representative is highly visible in their interactions with patients and must therefore project a positive office image at all times including smiling, greeting patients with enthusiasm, and maintaining an upbeat, positive attitude in all interactions with patients and coworkers.
• Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 or more years of experience working with the public, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology,
• Knowledge of the different types of health insurance plans; i.e. HMO’s, PPO’s, etc.
• PC/Windows proficiency.
• Medical coding familiarity.
• Willingness to assign high priority to patient comfort and satisfaction.
• Ability to communicate effectively and to work compatibly with physicians, coworkers, and employees in other departments.
