Patient Service Representative - MH Primary Care Portland

Join MaineHealth as a Patient Service Representative - MH Primary Care Portland.

Current Offer: For a limited time, MaineHealth is offering a $3,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates. This bonus is available to those hired into full or part-time Patient Service Representative positions, with prorated amounts for part-time hires. Per diem hires are ineligible. Current MaineHealth employees are not eligible, and former employees must have been separated for more than 6 months.

Position Overview

The PSR will greet patients, answer phones, schedule appointments, and perform general office duties. This is a part-time role, 24 hours/week.

Responsibilities
  • Greet patients politely and promptly.
  • Schedule, reschedule, confirm, and cancel appointments.
  • Update patient demographic and insurance info during check-in and provide necessary forms.
  • Answer phones courteously and assist callers when possible.
  • Screen calls, document messages, and escalate as needed.
  • Collect co-pays and balances, review encounter forms, obtain signatures, and schedule follow-ups.
  • Assist patients with activating and navigating the patient portal.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Driver’s license may be required.
  • Experience in a medical office and customer service preferred.
  • Computer skills and effective cash collection skills are preferred.
