Job summary

BJC Medical Group, part of BJC HealthCare, is seeking a full-time Lead Patient Service Representative for a practice in Alton, Illinois. You will oversee front office workflow, train staff, act as the primary contact in the absence of supervision, and resolve escalated issues while ensuring accurate insurance data and payments.

The role supports a 40-hour, day-shift schedule with benefits and a focus on compliant billing and patient service excellence.

Qualifications

• The Lead Patient Service Representative acts as a subject matter expert on all front office activity & procedures and directs the patient flow process at the physician office.
• This position maintains a strong knowledge of and trains new and/or junior level team members on work processes.
• This position also serves as the primary point of contact in the absence of the supervisor, as well as a point of escalation on complex work situations.

Responsibilities

• Verifies health insurance payment information and educates patients on the applicable regulations; collects payments and records data.
• Performs data entry of service charges, to include the assignment of diagnostic codes and the entering of all physician and clinic related charges.
• Coordinates information with Central Billing Office to ensure all charges are captured and properly collected.
• Serves as a subject matter expert; answers general and technical questions from other staff members; helps make decisions and resolve complex issues.
• Provides training and support to both new & existing staff.
