Articularis Healthcare Group is seeking a full-time Patient Service Representative for our Summerville, SC location. The role involves front desk duties, patient check-in/out, scheduling, and handling confidential information with HIPAA compliance.

Candidates should have an Associate degree with 2 years in customer service, medical setting experience, and strong communication skills. Travel between offices may be required; benefits and team-oriented environment provided.

Qualifications

• Associates degree with 2 years or any combination of education and work experience in a customer service-related role.
• Previous experience working in a medical/clinical setting.
• Previous multi-line phone system.
• Working knowledge of computers, internet access, and the ability to navigate Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Checking in patients and obtaining/updating necessary financial, personal, and medical information.
• Entering information accurately into the patient’s chart.
• Providing superior patient service by answering calls promptly and courteously.
• Checking out patients, scheduling follow-ups, and providing documents such as treatment plans and receipts.
• Collecting copays and past due balances.
• Monitoring and adjusting schedules and rescheduling as needed.
• Maintaining confidentiality and HIPAA compliance with patient information.
• Collaborating with Managers, Doctors, and staff to maintain process consistency.
• Triage and transfer phone calls and travel between offices.

The Patient Service Representative will be responsible for handling all front desk duties for the practice. The Patient Service Representative must ensure that patients are the number one priority, whether over the phone or in person. They will greet every patient and guardian with a smile and accommodate their needs in a comfortable and pleasant manner to provide the best experience.

As a Patient Service Representative, typical duties might look like:

• Responsible for checking in patients upon arrival at the office, as well as obtains and updates necessary financial, personal, and or medical information.
• Ensures all information is entered accurately into the patients’ chart.
• Ensures that patients receive a superior level of customer service by answering the telephone promptly, communicating in a courteous and friendly manner and addressing patients’ needs and questions.
• Responsible for checking out patients upon completion of the appointment, schedules the follow- upappointment(s) as needed and provides patients with any necessary documents, including treatmentplans, receipts, work excuse notes, or appointment reminder cards.
• Responsible for collecting copays and past due balances.
• Monitors the schedules regularly, adjusts the schedule as necessary and reschedules patients as needed.
• Responsible for sorting, filing, and scanning materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems and ability to key data into medical computer system accurately.
• Responsible for scheduling appointments based on the company’s scheduling guidelines.
• Understands insurance benefits to effectively communicate to the patient.
• Maintains patient confidentiality through HIPAA compliance and ensures any release of patient information is done in accordance with the company guidelines.
• Understands how to work effectively within the office, partnering with Managers, Doctor(s), and other staff to maintain consistency and integrity within the company.
• Appropriately triage and transfer phone calls to other areas and/or providers
• Travels between multiple offices as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
