Job summary

Intermountain Health Layton Hospital in Utah is seeking a compassionate Patient Service Representative to be the first point of contact for patients, greeting and checking in/out, verifying information, and coordinating care with caregivers to ensure a superior patient experience.

The role requires accurate EMR documentation, scheduling visits, collecting demographics and insurance details, and assisting with billing and financial assistance.

Qualifications

  • Six months of customer service experience.
  • Basic computer skills for word processing and data entry.
  • Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and PHI of patients, members, and caregivers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with patients and fellow caregivers to deliver high-level service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide courteous, professional connections with patients by phone, in person, or via secure messaging.
  • Document all calls accurately in the EMR.
  • Schedule patient appointments for visits, procedures, tests, referrals, and consultations.
  • Register patients by confirming and updating demographic data in registration system.
  • Obtain insurance cards, IDs, and signatures; verify information for COB and authorization as needed.
  • Assist patients in completing forms for regulatory and billing needs and educate on financial assistance; process payments.
  • Stay current on role responsibilities and communications to ensure top performance.
