Job summary

Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) seeks a patient care sitter to provide constant observation on a patient care unit. You will assist patients with daily living activities under licensed staff direction and document information accurately.

The role emphasizes safety, effective communication, and teamwork in a fast-paced hospital setting, with emphasis on compassionate patient and family service and maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• CPR certification preferred.
• Formal healthcare training preferred (CNA/EMT) or equivalent.
• Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.
• Equivalent healthcare experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under supervision of licensed personnel.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living as directed by nursing staff.
• Communicate effectively and document information accurately.
• Monitor safety of behavior management patients.
• Assist with bedside procedures alongside nurses/NAs.
• Assist with wayfinding and patient needs in hallways.
• Respond to call lights and meet patient needs when possible.
• Deliver excellent customer service to patients and families.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly patient environment.
• Maintain ongoing communication with the assigned nurse.
• Attend required safety trainings; follow exposure control plans.
• Respect patient dignity and promote a professional environment.
• Collaborate with department to meet goals and objectives.
