Job summary

North Country Healthcare is seeking a Patient Sitter to provide continuous observation for at-risk patients, ensuring safety and calm environments. The role emphasizes de-escalation, infection control, and vigilant reporting to nursing staff, with mandatory BLS/CPR certifications and related training.

The position offers an hourly rate of $22.00, with duties including patient engagement, safety monitoring, and collaboration with clinical teams in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be trained in De-Escalation and MOAB prior to patient interaction; training provided.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Heartsaver CPR AED, with renewal on a regular basis.
• MOAB training covers proactive strategies to prevent and manage aggressive behavior.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous observation of assigned patients unless relieved by a qualified person.
• Monitor and report any changes in patient condition or behavior to the nurse.
• Read to, play cards, or engage patients to maintain a calming environment.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and hospital staff.
• Notify nursing staff of patient needs and obtain assistance as necessary.
• Adhere to infection control procedures to ensure a safe environment.
• Maintain constant attendance with the patient to ensure safety.
• Support patient well-being by providing reassurance and companionship.
