Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Patient Safety Technician to support safety and quality at the bedside and via continuous observation. You will stay with patients, calm agitated individuals, identify hazards, and assist with daily living activities as directed by the RN.

You will monitor patients through direct observation and video, provide redirection when needed, and collaborate with care teams to maintain a safe environment per hospital policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Remain at bedside of assigned patient at all times unless relieved by appropriate staff.
• Provide calming and reorienting conversation with patient when agitated or confused.
• Identify and remove hazards from the patient and environment and report as appropriate.
• Assist patient with activities of daily living as delegated by supervising RN, including ambulating and positioning.
• Provide continuous safety observation via video monitoring for at-risk patients and offer comfort measures.
• Remotely monitor multiple patients via video monitoring and redirect in real time, summoning staff when needed.
