Job summary

ScionHealth is seeking a Patient Sitter to provide continuous observation and monitoring of patients requiring enhanced safety. Under RN supervision, you will stay within arm's reach, respond quickly to patient needs, and support non-clinical duties and comfort.

This role emphasizes teamwork, calmness under pressure, and strict infection control. Preferred candidates have a high school diploma and BCLS/NCI certifications within facility timelines, with prior healthcare exposure.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to perform essential duties.
• BCLS certification required within facility-specified timeframe.
• NCI certification required within facility-specified timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant visual observation of patients.
• Alert nursing staff to changes in condition or need for assistance.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to patients.
• Accompany patients to tests or procedures, staying in close proximity.
• Report hazards or safety concerns to the nurse and maintain a neat, orderly patient room.
• Record patient behavior and significant events as directed.
• Adhere to infection control and isolation procedures per facility policies.
• Follow RN directions on observation protocols, documentation, and patient behaviors.
• Perform basic tasks like setting up meal trays, removing trash, and assisting with linens.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Complete mandatory education and training requirements.
