Job summary

INTEGRIS Health Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK is seeking a Day Shift, Full-Time Patient Safety Monitor to support patient well-being and safety. This role focuses on observation, communication with nurses, and adherence to safety protocols in a fast-paced hospital environment.

The successful candidate will have strong English communication, be 18+, complete sitter orientation within 90 days, and be prepared to float across units as needed while following standard precautions.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English and to see and hear.
• Required to take call a minimum of one shift (12 hours) per week.
• Successful completion of sitter orientation required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct observation of patients who are considered to have been or to be a danger to themselves and recognize dangerous situations.
• Assists with patient safety issues such as adherence to patient fall protocol, use of restraints, and behavior that is dangerous to the patient's condition.
• Notifies the nurse and/or staff when these behaviors or verbal expressions of such behaviors by the patient occur.
• Interacts appropriately with the patient and/or family.
• Reports to assigned leader.
• Will have extended time sitting in a chair while performing job duties. This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test requirements. • May be exposed to noise, disagreeable odors, and potential for exposure to infections and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment, and chemicals. Contact with adolescents and adults who may exhibit physical or behavioral outbursts related to a mental health condition.
• Will be required to float to all units. Must follow standard precautions.
