Job summary

Mercy in St. Louis seeks a Patient Safety Specialist to drive the hospital's safety program under the Director of Quality.

You will partner with care teams to implement, review and monitor patient safety initiatives, ensuring high-quality outcomes and alignment with Mercy Service Standards. The role requires 3+ years in clinical healthcare, a patient safety or quality certification within 3 years, and strong communication and leadership skills to engage physicians, staff, and administration

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in a healthcare-related field.
  • Certification in patient safety or quality within 3 years of hire is required.
  • 3+ years of clinical healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in implementation, review and support of the facility patient safety program under the Director of Quality.
  • Support care teams to achieve high-quality outcomes and serve as a subject matter expert in patient safety.
  • Collaborate with leadership, coworkers and medical staff to develop, implement, monitor and champion patient safety processes.
  • Model just culture, reporting, flexibility and learning across Mercy.
  • Identify resources needed to support patient safety improvement projects across the organization.
