Job summary

UnityPoint Health in Davenport, IA is seeking a Patient Safety Companion to support clients in daily activities and help maintain a safe, therapeutic environment. You will monitor and interact with clients, document activity, and contribute to care guided by trauma-informed principles.

If you’re compassionate and attentive, this role offers a meaningful daily impact with shifts 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, rotating holidays and weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class “D” Iowa driver’s license or equivalent license.
• CPR training.
• CPI (Crisis Prevention and Intervention) training, initial & yearly renewal.
• Mental health or substance disorder experience preferred.
• Knowledge of proper food handling and preparation.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning building, completing laundry, stocking supplies, and preparing food for clients.
• Respond to calls and provide front desk coverage.
• Completes safety rounding to maintain therapeutic, secure, and safe environment for patients/visitors/staff including enforcement of rules.
• Accurately documents safety rounds.
• Intervenes appropriately and therapeutically in crisis situations using crisis intervention preventions and trauma informed care.
• Demonstrate competence in recognizing and responding to patients’ physical, mental, emotional and developmental needs utilizing crisis prevention intervention and trauma informed care.

License(s)/Certification(s):

• Possession of a valid Class “D” Iowa driver’s license or an equivalent license from the employee’s state of residence.

Experience:

• Knowledge of proper food handling and preparation.
• Mental health or substance disorder experience preferred.
