Description

The Safety Attendant is responsible for the direct supervision of patients requiring monitoring due to high risk factors such as falls, intoxication, profound confusion, involuntary commitment (IVC), suicidal tendencies, or any other safety concerns.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous, uninterrupted observation of patients, including during bathing, toileting, and visitation.
• Maintain order and safety within the environment.
• Communicate patient information to nurses promptly.
• Refrain from texting, talking on the phone, gaming, reading, or engaging in similar activities during monitoring.
• Remain with the patient until reassigned by the charge nurse, even if family members are present.
• Document observations on the sitter flow sheet as specified, including safety and suicide precautions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Shift

M-F, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, every other weekend.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• CPI training within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to pass background checks and onboarding screening.
• Physical capability to perform duties, including lifting up to 30 pounds and passing basic FIT and safety hold tests.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Complete safety attendant training during onboarding and annually.
