Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare is seeking a patient sitter/CNA for per diem shifts in Carbondale, IL. You will provide direct observation of patients under nursing supervision, documenting changes and communicating with staff to ensure patient safety.

The role requires a high school diploma (preferred) and CNA experience; prior mental health or crisis de-escalation experience is advantageous. You will join a team focused on compassionate care and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Previous CNA, nurse aide/patient care experience preferred.
• Experience in mental health or related fields is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provides close observation of patients as directed by the nursing plan of care.
• Communicates patient parameters to nursing staff before and during each assignment.
• Maintains and documents required logs and records.
• Remains with patient while in bathroom, maintaining visual contact.
• Uses behavior management strategies to de-escalate agitated patients.
• Keeps LMS education, CPR, CPI, and other required trainings up to date.
