Job summary

Altru Health is seeking a Patient Safety Attendant to ensure a safe environment for patients at Altru Specialty Center in Grand Forks, ND. You will directly observe patients, document behavior, and report to the assigned nurse to support patient care.

Ideal candidates will be able to engage patients with diversional activities, provide orientation, and assist with transfers as needed. This role requires English proficiency and basic life support certification, with on-site work in a hospital

Qualifications

• Must maintain patient safety and observe behaviors.
• Able to document observations and report to nurse.
• English reading/writing/speaking required.

Responsibilities

• Directly observes patient to maintain safety.
• Provides a safe environment enabling nurses to fulfill duties.
• Creates diversion activities to prevent acting out.
• Offers time, place and person orientation.
• Reports symptoms or pain promptly per SOP.
• Transports and/or transfers patients within the unit.
• Identifies ligature risks and reports promptly.
• Performs other duties as needed.

Summary

The Patient Safety Attendant provides a safe patient environment by direct observation and offers diversional activities. The attendant keeps track of patient's behavior and reports the patient's condition to the assigned nurse.

Essential Job Functions

• Directly observes patient to maintain patient safety.
• Provides a safe environment for patients allowing the nurse to fulfill their duties.
• Creates diversion activities for patient to keep patient from acting out.
• Offers time, place and person orientation.
• Reports the patient's self-report/symptoms of pain promptly according to standard operating procedure.
• Transports and/or transfers patients within the unit.
• Identifies ligature risks and reports information to appropriate person(s).
• Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) | American Heart Association (AHA) | Within 90 Days of Start Date | Learning Management System Driver's License with Acceptable Driving Record | Driver's License - Current State Licensed | Prior to Start Date | HR Primary Sources
