Job summary

Altru Health System is seeking a Patient Safety Attendant to provide direct observation for patient safety at the Altru Specialty Center in Grand Forks, ND. The role involves maintaining a safe environment and offering diversional activities while closely monitoring patients.

Qualified candidates will hold BLS and AHA certifications and possess a valid Driver's License. English proficiency is required for effective communication with patients and team members.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to observe patients directly to ensure safety.
  • Must follow SOPs and report changes to nurses promptly.
  • Must possess required certifications within stated timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Directly observes patient to maintain safety.
  • Provide a safe environment so nurses can fulfill duties.
  • Create diversion activities to reduce agitation.
  • Offer person, time and place orientation.
  • Promptly report patient-reported pain to nurse.
  • Transfer patients within the unit.
  • Identify ligature risks and report promptly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Washington St. Grand Forks, ND 58201 Pay Range: $15.50 - $23.22 Summary: The Patient Safety Attendant provides a safe patient environment by direct observation and offers diversional activities. The attendant keeps track of patient's behavior and reports the patient's condition to the assigned nurse.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Directly observes patient to maintain patient safety.
  • Provides a safe environment for patients allowing the nurse to fulfill their duties.
  • Creates diversion activities for patient to keep patient from acting out.
  • Offers time, place and person orientation.
  • Reports the patient's self-report/symptoms of pain promptly according to standard operating procedure.
  • Transfers patients within the unit.
  • Identifies ligature risks and reports information to appropriate person(s).
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Within 90 Days of Start Date
  • Learning Management System Driver's License with Acceptable Driving Record
  • Driver's License - Current State Licensed
  • Prior to Start Date
