Job summary

McLaren Health Care seeks a Patient Safety Associate for its Nursing Float Pool to provide close observation of at-risk patients and assist with daily living activities under the supervision of an RN.

Responsibilities include receiving reports, staying at the bedside, and maintaining a safe environment while communicating professionally with patients and care teams. Shifts run 7:00am–7:30pm with on-site duties and collaboration across units.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year related experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides close, continuous observation of patients at risk for falls or harm, under the supervision of an RN.
• Assists in providing a safe, clean environment and with activities of daily living when needed.
• Obtains verbal report from the patient’s nurse including care needs, diagnoses, barriers, and special instructions.
• Stays at bedside to maintain constant visual observation, within arm’s length during tests or procedures when required.
• Maintains patient comfort and safety, and collaborates with the health care team.
• Communicates professionally with patients and families, and responds to changing unit needs.
• Records data accurately and notifies the RN of untoward events or behavioral changes.
• Performs other related duties as required.
