Job summary

Beebe Healthcare is seeking a Patient Relations Specialist to support patient rights and advocacy and to coordinate the patient complaint/grievance process in a hospital setting in Lewes, Delaware.

The role requires proactive patient advocacy, strong communication, and collaboration with diverse teams. You will participate in patient rounds, assist with advance directives, and provide staff education as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of hospital experience.
• Previous patient relations experience preferred.
• Advanced communication, customer service, interpersonal and problem-solving skills a must.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Receive patient complaints and complete the investigative process.
• Coordinate action plans with the appropriate department director or service chief; follow-up with the complainant.
• Advocate for Patients Rights and Responsibilities and serve as a liaison with the healthcare team.
• Support the patient satisfaction survey process and follow-up with patients upon request.
• Attend bi-weekly clinical rounds and actively participate; visit patients to assess needs and satisfaction.
• Assist patients with Advance Directives; provide staff and community education on advance directives.
• Provide coverage in the absence of the Director; perform other duties as assigned.

Overview

Responsible for supporting patient rights and advocacy; coordinates the patient complaint/grievance process.

Responsibilities

Responsible for receiving patient complaints, completing the investigative process, reviewing with the appropriate department director or service chief, coordinates action plan and follow-up with the complainant. Responsible for the constant advocacy of the Patients Rights and Responsibilities. Is the resource for patients and staff regarding such rights. Supports the patient satisfaction survey process to include follow-up with patients upon request. Actively represents the patient and serves as their liaison with the healthcare team. Attends bi-weekly clinical rounds with active participation. Proactively visits patients to ensure their needs and level satisfaction are being met. Assists patients with the completion of Advance Directives; provides staff and community education on advance directives. Provides coverage in the absence of the Director. Other duties as assigned.
