Job summary

KidMed Urgent Care is seeking a Patient Registration Representative to accurately register patients in a fast-paced environment, serving as the first point of contact between patients and medical staff.

You will confirm insurance eligibility, collect co-pays, and support billing processes while maintaining a friendly, professional demeanor. Experience with health insurance and EMR systems is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year registration experience preferred.
• Experience with health insurance is preferred.
• Solid understanding of HIPAA and PHI requirements.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Enter patient demographic and insurance information accurately.
• Serve as primary contact between patients and medical staff.
• Greet patients on arrival with a friendly, helpful demeanor.
• Confirm insurance eligibility and collect co-pays and balances.
• Reconcile payments at shift end and address past-due accounts.
• Answer incoming calls and route to appropriate parties.
• Interpret billing statements and participate in trainings.

The Patient Registration Representative will perform various duties such as registering patients in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

• Entering patient demographic and insurance information accurately.
• Serving as the primary contact between patients and the medical personnel.
• Greeting patients upon arrival with a friendly demeanor and helpful attitude.
• Confirming insurance eligibility.
• Collecting co-pays and balances due at the time of registration.
• Reconciling payments at the end of each shift.
• Addressing accounts that are past due at the time of registration.
• Answering incoming phone calls and forwarding to the appropriate parties.
• Interpreting billing statements.
• Participating in mandatory trainings and attending staff meetings.
• Faxing and/or emailing confirmed lab results to the appropriate parties.
• Setting up installment payment plans.
• Maintaining a clean work environment.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Computer literacy (log in, log out, search engines, etc.)
• Knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) systems
• Strong telephone and in-person communication skills
• Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of HIPAA and PHI (Protected Health Information) laws/regulations

Required Education/Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required
• One year experience in patient registration (preferred)
• One year experience with health insurance (preferred)

Salary: $16.50 - $21.50 per hour
