Job summary

Qualifications

• 1-2+ years of clerical/admin customer service experience.
• 1-2+ years of professional customer service/clerical experience in a hospital environment.
• Typing 25-30 wpm
• Experience with basic computer software programs
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to develop others in continuous process improvement and customer service
• Maturity and ability to represent the department to internal/external customers

Responsibilities

• Promptly fields/directs incoming calls and resolves or escalates inquiries.
• Gathers and verifies patient information and ensures forms are completed and understood.
• Greets patients with professionalism and maintains confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits and documents authorizations as required.
• Ensures accurate entry of patient data and maintains electronic health records per hospital policy.
• Communicates CMS guidelines and Medicare/Insurance requirements to patients.
• Handles document scanning and coordinates with Case Management and Utilization Review.
• May lift boxes up to 30 pounds and assist with patient transport as needed.
