Job summary

EvergreenHealth seeks a patient registration specialist to welcome patients and visitors and to register them accurately and courteously, promoting a positive experience. You will verify patient identity to support patient safety and initiate the revenue cycle to ensure timely reimbursement using registration systems.

Responsibilities include collecting demographics, assisting with consent forms, pre-registration, and coordinating with the Financial Clearance Unit as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Flexible in work assignments, detail oriented and organized.
  • Strong communication to obtain information from patients and others.
  • Able to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Interview patients or representatives to collect demographic and billing information.
  • Assist patients with completing consent forms and workers' comp forms.
  • Pre-register patients before scheduled admission (phone or in person).
  • Responsible for point-of-service collections.
  • Identify need for financial counseling and refer to Financial Clearance Unit.
  • Explain insurance payers and use electronic verification systems.

Wage Range: $25.12 - $38.55 per hour

Bonus: Up to $3000.00 for those new to EvergreenHealth

Pro-rated by FTE.

Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. For jobs with more than one level, the posted range reflects the minimum of the lowest level and the maximum of the highest level. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications or degrees. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, level of education and internal equity.

Job Summary:

Represent EvergreenHealth as welcoming officials to patients and visitors and is responsible for accurate and courteous registration of patients in a manner that promotes EvergreenHealth's values that contributes towards an optimum patient experience. Accountable for the proper patient identification to ensure a patient safety. Initiates the Patient Revenue Cycle for maximum and timely reimbursement with utilization of registration functions/systems.

Primary Duties:
  • Interviews patient or their representatives to obtain demographic and billing information via the registration area or the patient's bedside.
  • Assists patients in completing the appropriate consent and/or worker's compensation forms.
  • Completes pre-registration of patients prior to scheduled admission as necessary (may be conducted over phone or in person with patient or patient representative).
  • Responsible for point-of-service collections.
  • Identifies the need for financial counseling and refers the patient to the Financial Clearance Unit.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of insurance payers and the use of electronic systems for verification purposes.
  • Works with the House Supervisor for direct and scheduled admits as needed.
  • Responsible for updating patient type changes based on physician's orders.
  • Informs surgery patients of scheduled admit and surgery times.
  • Responsible for following downtime procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
License, Certification, Education or Experience
REQUIRED for the position
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to be flexible in work assignments, detail oriented and organized and works well with others in a professional manner.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively obtain information from patients, physicians, other clients.
  • Ability to function independently, organize work, multitask, and establish priorities.
  • Numerical ability is required to discuss financial arrangements including deposit requirements.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in determining appropriate actions in emergent situations, problem solving, and retain composure in stressful situations.
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Ability to manage work volume and disseminate status updates to team members.
DESIRED for the position
  • Vocational training or college degree in the healthcare setting.
  • 2 year prior experience in a hospital or medical setting
  • Working knowledge of insurances
