Cano Health is seeking a dedicated Referral Coordinator to support patient care coordination by handling insurance pre-verifications, referrals, and appointments. You will liaise with patients, providers, and health plans to ensure timely authorizations and follow-up.

The role requires experience in medical offices, familiarity with EHR systems such as eClinicalWorks, and strong customer service skills to maintain a compassionate patient experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years in medical office, hospital, or clinical setting handling referrals.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes.
• Experience with scheduling systems, EHRs (eClinicalWorks), and insurance authorization procedures.
• BLS certification required; ability to respond in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Process outgoing referrals promptly based on provider orders (e.g., specialty care, diagnostics, therapy).
• Review, validate, and document referral orders; input referrals and authorizations into data systems.
• Schedule appointments with specialists or service providers, prioritizing in-network options.
• Track referral status and follow up on incomplete referrals; obtain consultation reports.
• Close the referral loop by routing reports and documentation to the provider.
