PATIENT OBSERVATION ASSISTANT (FULL TIME AND PART TIME)

Join us at TouchPoint as a Patient Observation Assistant in either full-time or part-time roles. We are hiring immediately at Henry Ford Providence Hospital, located at 16001 West Nine Mile Road, Southfield, MI 48075. Online applications are accepted only.

Job Summary

Provides visual and audible observation of assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and unit manager, ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patient condition and behavior continuously.
• Complete observation reports at set intervals.
• Respond compassionately to patient needs and interact supportively with staff and visitors.
• Stay at the bedside unless relieved by staff.
• Redirect at-risk behaviors verbally.
• Report medical distress or safety hazards promptly.
• Assist in calming and reorienting patients as needed.
• Help maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Participate in hand-offs and communicate pertinent information.
• Assist with patient meals, mobility, and diagnostic tests.
• Respond swiftly to emergencies and special needs.
• Follow department policies, confidentiality, and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• CPR/AED or BLS-HCP certification within 30 days of hire if required.
• Ability to stand/walk for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform physical tasks.
• Previous experience preferred but not required.
