Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs — Salisbury VA Medical Center in Salisbury, North Carolina — is seeking a Food Service Worker to join the Nutrition & Food Service team.

The incumbent reports to the Food Service Worker Supervisor and will perform a variety of food service tasks in a hospital setting. Responsibilities include meal preparation, sanitation, tray delivery to patient rooms, and maintaining stock and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Cleans production equipment including steam jacketed kettles and other large utensils
• Loads and operates dishwashers and cart washing station
• Transports tray carts to wards and delivers trays to patients or assists with transport
• Sets up serving areas with hot and cold foods and keeps items stocked
• Identifies discrepancies between prescribed diets or allergies and tray tickets
• Assembles items in cold food prep and nourishment area; makes cold sandwiches
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Work schedules include full-time and part-time shifts with rotating holidays/weekends
