Job summary

Methodist Hospitals is seeking a Dishwasher/Kitchen Helper to wash, rinse, and sanitize pots, pans, and utensils, and to support trayline setup and patient meal delivery. The role involves following strict sanitation procedures, portion control, and timely service of patient trays and carts.

You will document temperatures, assist with menu checks, and maintain cleanliness of the work area while following hospital standards and policies.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write legibly, and speak English.
• Able to concentrate with interruptions.
• Ability to take oral and written instructions.
• Need manual dexterity and good eye/hand coordination.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Need mechanical aptitude to disassemble and reassemble equipment.
• Ability to work as part of a group.

Responsibilities

• Check patient trays before delivery to ensure proper temperature.
• Deliver and pass trays to patients promptly and courteously, following floor procedures.
• Retrieve food trays/carts from patient floors on schedule.
• Clean work station counters, sinks, walls and shelves at shift start and end.
• Follow approved sanitation procedures in the work area.
• Record food waste timing on the Food Waste Log after each meal.
• Maintain clean wash, rinse and sanitizing waters; monitor temperatures.
• Document pot and pan machine temperatures with test strips.
• Prepare lists of items to add to tray and manage coffee/hot water at delivery.
• Process patient trays and service ware through the dish machine promptly.
• Record patient intake on the Calorie Count Form and review menus for write-ins.
• Serve food on patient trays accurately and neatly according to diet charts.
• Load trays on food carts and maintain appropriate tray speed.
• Scrape, soak, scour, rinse, and sanitize pots, pans, and utensils.
• Place items in correct storage locations after sanitation.
• Report any broken or malfunctioning equipment to management.
