Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Per Diem Dietary Services Aide to support the hospital food service team. This role is based on department needs and offers flexible shifts. Responsibilities include meal service, tray preparation, and maintaining cleanliness of the work areas.

You will assist dietitians, handle inventory and ordering, and ensure proper food temperatures and portioning. Training is provided; ServeSafe certification is a plus, and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and communicate verbally at a 10th grade level to follow work instructions.
• On-the-job training of approximately one month is provided.
• ServeSafe® certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Displays courtesy and professionalism to patients, visitors, physicians and associates.
• Checks food temperatures before and during meal service; monitors quality of product.
• Distributes and collects patient meal trays and nourishments.
• Assists dietitians by obtaining information related to patient acceptance of meals and quality of food service.
• Performs daily inventory and ordering of food and paper supplies and maintains cleanliness of assigned areas.
• Stock assigned areas and put stock away according to procedure.
• Cleans and closes dish room; washes pots and pans according to set procedure.
• Sets up tray areas following written instructions and portions items on trays neatly.
• Returns supplies and food to proper locations and maintains organized work areas.
