*Job Title:* Patient Intake Coordinator
*Location: *100% Remote to Austin, TX *(must live in Austin or within an hour of city limits) *
*Hours:* M-F 8am-5pm
*Experience Level: *Entry Level
Job Overview Are you passionate about helping others and making a positive first impression? We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Patient Intake Coordinator to join the team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for new patients, ensuring they feel welcomed, informed, and supported from their very first interaction. You'll guide patients through the intake process, manage scheduling, verify insurance, and maintain accurate records-all while delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the full continuum of the new patient referral process in accordance with department standards.
* Serve as the first point of contact for patients and stakeholders, providing outstanding customer service.
* Assess patient needs to prioritize and triage referrals independently.
* Answer incoming calls, take messages, and respond to routine inquiries from patients, physicians, and clients.
* Follow up on missing medical records and test results from referring providers.
* Collect and verify patient demographic, insurance, and referral information.
* Register patient accounts in the practice management system.
* Conduct insurance benefit and eligibility investigations.
* Provide patients with appointment details, directions, and pre-visit instructions.
* Distribute and collect necessary medical forms prior to initial visits.
* Maintain and update physician schedules to ensure appropriate patient appointments.
* Collaborate with clinical teams to accommodate scheduling needs.
* Accurately document and update patient records in designated systems.
* Support providers with complex administrative tasks and problem-solving.
Required Skills & Qualifications
* *2+ years *of experience in healthcare call center or intake roles.
* Experience with Athena IDX or Leading Reach software.
* Prior experience working remotely in a call center environment.
* Strong customer service and communication skills.
* Experience with patient registration and health insurance verification.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
* Proficiency in handling sensitive patient information with confidentiality.
* Familiarity with call center operations and healthcare environments.

*Pay and Benefits*
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
