Job summary

Qualifications

• Verifiable completion of one of the following: EMT course or Medical Assistant experience.
• 1 year of Medical Assistant experience in ambulatory care clinic or other healthcare setting.
• Medical Assisting education program.
• University Hospital Medical Assistant certification program.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for examinations and procedures.
• Reports patient concerns to licensed staff.
• Performs CLIA Waved Lab tests as identified by department.
• Assists with injections, catheterization, suture removal and minor procedures.
• Acts as chaperone for health care providers during examinations.
• Maintains and cleans patient rooms and equipment; restocks supplies.
• Answers phones and schedules appointments and tests.
• Assists in routine clerical tasks and medical records handling.
• Completes mandatory education including infection prevention, CPR, and safety.
• May perform phlebotomy after training.
• May assist with EKG and ultrasound scanning under supervision.
• Provides educational materials to patients and families.
• May transport patients as directed.
