Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to optimize patient bed utilization and coordinate placement across Nursing and Patient Access. The role focuses on timely bed assignments and resolving flow issues to support high-quality care.

You will collaborate with clinical departments to align patient needs with bed availability, while ensuring compliance with licensure and hospital policies and maintaining high standards of patient safety.

Qualifications

• RN license currently active and in good standing.
• Minimum of 2 years of healthcare experience; leadership and bed utilization experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree required or BSN preferred for consideration.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities; excellent problem solving and critical thinking.

Responsibilities

• Act as liaison between Nursing, Patient Access and other departments to place patients into beds/units promptly.
• Collaborate with nursing and clinical teams to determine best placement based on patient needs and service availability.
• Identify and resolve issues affecting patient flow and bed utilization in a timely manner.
• Coordinate work of clinical staff to optimize bed assignments and throughput.

What We Offer

Acts as liaison between Nursing, Patient Access and various departments throughout the Hospital to ensure the prompt and accurate placement/assignment of patients into a bed/unit and facilitates the resolution of any issues that affect efficient patient flow throughout the facility. Collaborates with Nursing and other clinical departments in determining the best placement of a patient with regard to the patient’s clinical needs and the availability of services.

What We’re Looking For

• Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. BSN, preferred.
• Experience: 2 years, required. Previous leadership and bed utilization experience, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Current RN license, required.
• Additional skills required:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, high level of problem solving and critical thinking skills to find solutions to difficult human, technical, clinical or administrative problems.
  • Excellent problem analysis skills to develop solutions.
  • Strong clinical skills and the ability to manage/coordinate effectively the work of non-subordinates.
