Job summary

Geisinger Medical Center is seeking a Financial Counselor to provide in-person or telephone counseling for patients facing admissions, surgeries, and outpatient services. You will coordinate billing tasks, verify eligibility for Medicaid and other programs, and educate patients on anticipated costs and available options to resolve balances at POS.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years related work experience (Required).
• Associate’s Degree preferred.
• Ability to discuss finances with patients and coordinate billing.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients to arrange financial plans before services.
• Discuss Medicaid eligibility and other funding sources.
• Explain price of care and collect co-pays, deductibles, balances at point of service.
• Coordinate between Revenue Management teams and departments.
• Complete and update EMR for patients interviewed.
