Job summary

The Ohio State University Medical Center seeks a Patient Representative to support families and visitors in the James Cancer Hospital and surrounding public spaces. You will provide information, visitation, and emotional support, using diplomacy and problem-solving to resolve concerns.

The role emphasizes proactive customer service and clear communication, ensuring smooth updates to families and timely responses to questions in a busy lobby environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work Wednesday-Saturday, 9 am to 7:30 pm.
• Experience equivalent to 1 year of full-time employment in a clinical or critical care area role.
• Customer service skills/training and ability to collaborate with diverse individuals across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide information, visitation, physical comfort, and emotional support to families and visitors.
• Respond to family and visitor concerns with empathetic verbal communication.
• Proactively intervene with customer service, anticipating needs and feelings.
• Routinely round and facilitate communication and updates to families and visitors.
• Provide important non-clinical information to families and visitors.

Education

HS Diploma or equivalent

Bachelor's degree (preferred)
