Job summary

Boston Children's Hospital in Boston, MA seeks an Administrative Support Specialist for the Cardiac Acute Care unit to coordinate services for patients and families and to support patient experiences. You will handle scheduling, authorizations, and routine clerical tasks in a busy inpatient setting.

Minimum education includes a high school diploma; a bachelor's degree is preferred. Prior customer service or administrative experience is valued, along with strong written and verbal communication

Position summary

You will provide support to the administrative operations of the inpatient Cardiac Acute Care unit and will work to ensure the best possible patient experience by effectively coordinating services to patients and families. You will demonstrate interest in and ability to departmental and organizational initiatives & projects with a focus on continuous process improvement. You will perform various administrative functions requiring basic knowledge of programs and services. You will provide positive and effective customer service that supports departmental and hospital operations.

Shift: Full time: Monday/Friday 3pm-11:30pm

$2,000 sign on bonus for all full time PERs . Internal employees- not eligible

Key responsibilities

  • Patient Encounter Management:
    • Providing positive and effective customer service via phone that supports unit operations
    • Collaborating with referring providers and practices via phone
    • Obtaining required authorizations to compile patient and staff schedules
    • Scheduling patients and supporting patients encounter
  • Administrative:
    • Recording and forwarding messages, triaging calls for urgent information or services, initiating call for emergency services
    • Providing routine clerical support as needed
Education

Minimum qualifications

  • A high school level of education, bachelor's degree preferred
Experience
  • Prior customer service or administrative experience preferred
  • The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations
  • The ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
