Job summary

St. Luke’s Health System in Twin Falls, Idaho, seeks a Patient Educator to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate education programs for patients and communities.

The role focuses on teaching patients based on individual learning needs and coordinating with other disciplines to enhance program effectiveness. The Educator will review materials, support patients in behavior modification, and deliver individualized education while contributing to goals, policies, and standards of care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or Associate degree with 2+ years of experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in respiratory care.
• Valid respiratory therapy license in state of practice and current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate health education programs for patients and community residents.
• Teach and provide support to patients based on learning needs.
• Coordinate patient education with other disciplines related to the program specialty.
• Review and update patient teaching materials related to the program specialty.
• Assist patients in developing skills to manage their disease through behavior modification.
• Provide individualized patient education and support based on patient needs.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate goals, objectives, policies, procedures and standards of care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Can Expect:

The Patient Educator assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the effectiveness of the organizations health education programs for patients and community residents.

-Teaches and provides support to patients based on the specific needs and learning ability of the patient.

• Coordinates the patient education with other disciplines as it relates to the program specialty.

• Reviews and updates patient teaching materials related to the program specialty.

• May assist patients with developing skills they need to manage their disease through behavior modification.

• Provides comprehensive education to clients who have self-selected the learning opportunity.

• Provides individualized patient teaching and support to patients based on the specific needs and learning ability of the patient.

• Assists in development, implementation, and evaluation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and standards of care.

• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors in Respiratory Therapy or Associates degree in Respiratory Therapy with 2 additional years of experience

• Experience: 2 year's experience.

• Licenses/Certifications: Valid license to practice respiratory therapy in state of practice AND Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross.
