Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Patient Dining Associate in the Food Service Department to support patient meals on assigned units and collaborate with Nursing on nutrition needs. This full-time role offers rotating 12-hour shifts from 7 a.m.

to 7 p.m., with a sign-on bonus up to $1,500 for qualified candidates and a comprehensive benefits package. The position requires a high school diploma (preferred), a Certified Food Service Handler’s Card, and prior customer service or food

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equivalent preferred.
• Certification / Licensure required: Certified Food Service Handler’s Card; Food Handler Certification may be required in select Sentara facilities.
• Experience: Previous customer service experience preferred; experience in lieu of degree/diploma accepted; food service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for patient meal service on assigned units and communicates patient food issues to Food & Nutrition Services.
• Assists dietitian with monitoring of patients on various diets and records food intake for intake analysis.
• Ensures timely service and accuracy of physician orders for modified diets and maintains patient satisfaction.
