Job summary

Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital is hiring a Patient Dining Associate. This full-time position entails patient meal service on assigned units, with rotating days and shifts.

The role requires collaboration with Food & Nutrition Services and Nursing to address patient nutrition needs and ensure high-quality care. The candidate should have a HS diploma or GED, with preference for healthcare or customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve patient meals on assigned units and ensure timely delivery.
• Communicate patient food issues to the Food & Nutrition Services and Nursing teams.
• Assist the dietitian with monitoring diets (NPO, clear/full liquid) and track patient intake.
• Maintain accuracy of physician-ordered modified diets and support patient satisfaction.

Full Time rotating days

Overview

Responsible for patient meal service food on assigned units. Communicates patient food issues/concerns and needs to Food & Nutrition Services, and interacts with Nursing in regards to patient nutrition needs or requirements. Assist dietitian with monitoring of patients on NPO, clear liquid and full liquid diets and records food intake for patients on intake analysis. React accurately and effectively to all changes to ensure efficient timing of services and accuracy of physician's ordered modified diets. Familiar with dietary restrictions on special, modified diets to ensure optimal patient care and satisfaction. Responsible for patient satisfaction on assigned units.

Education

HS diploma or equivalent GED - Preferred

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $18.02 - $26.54 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
