Job summary

Morrison Healthcare, a Compass Group company, is hiring a Patient Dining Associate Dietary Aide for a full-time position at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, AL. You will assist patients with menu selections, assemble and deliver meals, and collaborate with nurses and the culinary team to meet nutritional needs.

This role requires English literacy, basic computer and math skills, and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and interpret documents in English.
• Basic computer and mathematical skills.
• Must be able to occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds, as well as maneuver and push food delivery carts.

Responsibilities

• Help patients understand their menu selections and work with nursing to ensure orders comply with nutritional requirements or restrictions.
• Work with caregivers and culinary team to determine menu alternatives for patients with allergies, sensitivities, or cultural/religious preferences.
• Manage tray tickets and assemble meals according to each patient’s menu selection in a timely and accurate manner; retrieve trays from patient rooms at assigned times.
• Complies with regulator agency standards, including federal, state and JCAHO; adhere to HIPAA policies and procedures.
• Follows HACCP guidelines when handling food and cleaning work stations.
• Follows facility infection control policies and procedures.
• Assist dietitians, such as monitoring patients on various diets.
• Communicate problems or concerns with patients to appropriate personnel.
• Complete all daily, weekly or monthly reports as outlined in Morrison Healthcare policies.
• Comply with health and sanitation regulations and department procedures.
• Performs other duties assigned.
