Job description

The Patient Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. They ensure documentation and patient records are prepared and organized, and that patients have a clear understanding of what to expect during and after their appointment.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

• Greeting and assisting patients, customers, and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Performing patient registration in various systems.
• Answering all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• Collecting monies for time-of-service patient responsibility, if applicable.
• Verifying insurance coverage and obtaining prior authorization, if necessary.
• Performing preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures, including medical history, if required.
• Transporting patients to/from the exam room.
• Assisting in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
• Providing preliminary and post-procedure instructions to patients.
• Maintaining a clean and organized work area and ordering supplies as needed.
• Ensuring the accuracy of patient records and documentation.
• Scheduling patient appointments and obtaining insurance verification and authorization.
• Preparing medical records for physicians, patients, and customers.
• Ensuring all documentation complies with HIPAA regulations.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire for Mobile Radiology and Oncology; CPR certification is a plus for Fixed Radiology.
• Valid state driver’s license required, as applicable.
• Ability to work at multiple locations and support various sites.
• Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
• Local travel may be required.
• COVID-19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.
• Pre-employment background check and drug screening required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Six months of customer service or related experience and/or training.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Exposure to outside weather conditions during patient transport in mobile units.
• Potential exposure to magnetic fields, radioactive materials, blood, body fluids, and environmental hazards.
• More than 50% of the time: sit, stand, walk, and perform repetitive movements.
• Less than 50% of the time: stoop, kneel, climb, balance, and lift/move patients.
