Job summary

Akumin Langhorne is seeking a dedicated Patient Coordinator to greet patients, handle registration in multiple systems, answer calls professionally, and help ensure a smooth experience before, during, and after procedures. This part-time role emphasizes accuracy, HIPAA compliance, and coordination with clinical staff.

This position requires strong customer service, basic computer skills, and the ability to multi-task across administrative tasks, insurance verification, and scheduling.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • CPR certification before hire for Mobile Radiology/Oncology; CPR a plus for Fixed Radiology.
  • Valid state driver's license may be required.
  • Local travel to support multiple sites may be required.
  • COVID-19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.
  • Six months customer service or related experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
  • Perform patient registration in various systems.
  • Answer all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
  • May collect monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
  • May verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization.
  • May perform preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures.
  • May transport patient to/from the exam room.
  • May assist in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
  • Provide preliminary and post-procedure instructions to patients.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area; stock supplies.
  • Schedule patient appointments and obtain insurance verification/authorization.
  • Prepare medical records for physicians, patients and customers.
  • Ensure accuracy of patient visits in electronic and written records.
  • Assist clinical staff with documentation and image delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.

We are currently hiring for a Patient Coordinator at our Langhorne facility. This will be a part-time position. The Patient Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. Ensures documentation and patient records are prepared and organized. Ensures patients have a clear understanding of what to expect during and after their appointment.

  • Greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
  • Will perform patient registration in various systems.

  • May be responsible for verifying insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization.
  • Patient Assistance: May perform preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures, which may include medical history.
  • May transport patient to/from the exam room.
  • May assist in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
  • May transport patient to/from the exam room.
  • May provide the patient with preliminary and post-procedure instructions.
  • Work Area & Supply Preparation: In the mobile setting, may assist in preparing the unit for transport.
  • Will maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • May order supplies and ensure the work area is properly stocked.
  • Documentation: Will ensure accuracy of patient records.
  • May schedule patient appointments and obtain insurance verification and/or authorization.
  • May prepare medical records for physicians, patients and customers.
  • Ensures accurate documentation of patient visits in various electronic systems and on written documents.
  • May assist the clinical staff with documentation and image delivery to the patient, physician, or contracted customer.
  • Performs all duties within HIPAA regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • For Mobile Radiology and Oncology, CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire.
  • For Fixed Radiology, CPR Certification is a plus.
  • As applicable, valid state driver's license required.
  • Ability to work at several locations required.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
  • Local travel may be required to support multiple sites.
  • The COVID-19 vaccination is/may be a condition of employment.
  • All candidates who accept an offer for employment will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screen as a condition of employment.
  • Preferred Six months customer service or related experience and/or training.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
