Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health seeks a Telecommunications Center Assistant to establish and maintain courteous communication with patients, caregivers and staff. Requires at least a high school diploma and clerical experience, with preferred familiarity in a busy call-center environment and IDX scheduling systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of clerical work experience.
• Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, databases and email.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• IDX or similar scheduling system training (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Answers incoming phone lines and routes calls appropriately.
• Pages physicians and other VCUHS employees.
• Announces all emergency codes and makes related telephone calls.
• Reports problems alerted by control panels (e.g., fire).
• May work shift rotations or overtime to meet staffing and service levels.
• May be required to work every other weekend and scheduled holidays depending on location and needs.
