Job summary

The Institute for Family Health in New York is seeking a Medical Office Assistant to support the health team in patient care. Under the supervision of an LPN/RN, you will perform measurements, maintain charts, and assist with procedures while ensuring a clean exam area.

Qualified candidates have a HS diploma or GED and a certification from an accredited medical assistant program; BCLS and infection control certification are preferred.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • Certificate from accredited medical assistant school required.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated competence in auditory testing, visual testing, EKG, venipuncture and taking vitals.
  • Certification as a Phlebotomist or EKG technician preferred.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
  • Current Infection Control Certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Participates and supports the health team in direct patient care under supervision of an RN/LPN.
  • Performs heights, weights, and head circumference measurements.
  • Assists with medical procedures as required (e.g., sigmoidoscopies, colposcopy, biopsies).
  • Maintains patient charts/records/clinic logs and database.
  • Collects specimens.
  • Ensures timely patient care and maintains exam rooms.
