Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency is required.
• Previous experience as a phlebotomist is required.
• Basic Life Support Certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture technique on adults, newborns, and pediatric patients using vacutainer needles, butterfly needles with adaptors and heel/finger sticks.
• Accession specimens in the laboratory information system with 100% accuracy.
• Maintain supplies to ensure department operations and inventory levels.
• Provide excellent customer service and answer questions about test orders or routing as needed.
• Follow infection control procedures and quality control schedules per department policies.
• Train others in phlebotomy techniques when required and assist in orientation of new associates.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency

Previous experience as a phlebotomist
